Since the snowflake front rim is on the bike with the snowflake spacer and speedo drive, I decided to go ahead and tear apart the original speedo drive and clean it up, possibly polish it.  It appears to have metallic grey paint on it stock.  I'd like to strip the paint and polish it, however, there's a rubber seal that I can't remove from the main body without destroying it.  It is also holding in the main drive gear.  Everything else came out after a little studying.

I don't want to destroy the seal if I can help it, but if I leave it in the paint stripper will turn it into goo.  I'd also like to clean all of the old grease out of it and pack with fresh.  Worst case, I'll clean it up nice and leave it painted.  But is there any way to take it completely apart?
