Open the filler plug on top, put a container underneath, pull the drain plug and let it out. Replace the drain plug and fill with 80 or 90 wt Hypoid gear oil to just level with the bottom thread of the filler hole.

+1..... Also, if there are any metal shavings magnetized to the drain plug, go ahead n' wipe 'em off as well. I use Valvoline Synthetic 75w90, but that's just my preference, for example.

Also fill until it dribbles out of the fill hole, when the bike is vertical, not on the side stand.
It'll take about 8 oz.

How often does this need to be done? I have an 07 should I be thinking about it?
Thanx,

Chain

The book just says to inspect every 7500, after the initial 600 mile change.
I change mine every 20,000 or so and wipe the glitter off of the magnet on the drain plug.
