Do these bulbs over heat or melt the connector?....any problems?
I also heard they have a shorter life span too.

I have the Sylvania Silverstar in my stocker, but recently replaced my stock headlight with a Rick Doss bullet style. I love the bluish tint of the SS bulb, but my daggone Rick D. has an old school 'sealed' beam. Thinking 'bout modifying the stocker to fit the Rick D. Anyone try this or is there a replacement bulb type headlamp shell that I could purchase to replace that sealed beam in my aftermarket?

Thank you,
We currently have the Sylvania Silverstar in the bike,
yet I should have said that I am not ready to go with the whole HID wire harness.
I was thinking if anyone had any experience with something like
this:
thank you in advance.

I have HID lamps in both my bikes; the hardest part is locating the ballast/igniter, because of the limited space. On my VS800, are stuck to the panels on either side of the steering head with 3M foam bonding tape.

They do not overheat, the lifespan depends on use and factors such as vibration.
They make several varieties up to 5000k (color)
Never had a problem, just replace them when they burn out in 1 to 3 seasons

JT, did you read the fine print on that bulb...the note at the bottom says it requires a ballast, hence the associated wiring.

This looks like it might work, depending on size, look for the "globe and bulb".

Which Rick D. are you running? I have one of his 7" buckets on my vs800, but I got the bucket minus the lamp and used a Drag Specialties lamp that's similar in design to the Adjure faceted lamp.
Have you thought about just replacing the lamp or does it give you enough space to change out the lamp with one that holds an H4?

The next bulb I buy will be the PIAA 11704 H4 Night-Tech Bulb. The folks at Adjure really like the PIAA product and I've used them for years in off-road vehicles because they last even when it gets rough.
This bulb consumes 60/55 watts (H/L), but puts out light equvilant to 110/100 watts.

I recently had to replace my Adjure. Lens was cracked completely across near the middle, and another section near the edge at 9 o'clock. Not a sign of an impact. It was like it cracked from a temp differential or something.

HDI,
I just have the standard ribbed 5 3/4in headlight. But, I recently just modified my stocker, (Cut the mounting ears off), with a Dremel so it would fit into the RD bucket. fits perfectly.

Did you contact them about this. I'd be curious as to what they had to say about it as it seems odd....not impossible, but still odd

No, I didn't tell them. It's gone out with the trash now. If it happens again I will. The old one had the three-section horizontal pattern and this new one is plain, so if it's a stress/vibration problem I'd guess there would be a difference between the two. Just a chit happens deal for now.

Yeah it happens....oh and I have one of those three-section horizontal pattern lamps as well, but not the LC. So far it has done alright, but things could always happen
