This mornin' I said I was headed up to the north Ga mountains for a ride to see if the
leaves had fully changed in this thread.  Well, I am back and it appears that the leaves
have not fully changed colors, but are in the process.  Here are some photos.

Headed north out of the north Atlanta metro area, GA 400 is the route to the hill country.
This is the route that gave birth to all the suburban bedroom communities in what once
was farm land in rural counties.  It is sort of a super slab type ride, but necessary to get
to the curvy, twistin' roads of north GA.

Exit 15 off of GA 400....this is the exit that Big Pond and I would always meet up, and
he would get off here while I would head on down to exit 7.  We put a lot of miles up
and down this ol' highway to and from the mountains.

I stopped off at the Varsity for a coupla chili dogs and onion rings.  The Varsity is an
Atlanta institution since 1929 with the original just across from Georgia Tech.  This one
recently opened way up GA 400 near the Outlet Mall in Dawson County.  It doesn't
matter where you put a Varsity....like the Waffle House, they are Georgia legends.

Some red leaves here at the Varsity!

And some gold!

And finally to the twistin' country roads!

And the sweepin' curves amidst beautiful scenery!

And on a road that curves though a huge farm on both sides!

The farm and its fences seem to go on forever!

With fields that stretch into woods!

But eventually lead into more curvy, wooded, country roads!

That eventually lead to more open farm land!

With old houses with rusty tin roofs and a burned out corn crop!

And some hard workin' farmers out in the field!

And there's cattle tryin' to get some shade!

And horses and donkeys!

And ripplin' streams with white water!

And old water wheels at an old grist mill!

And old split rail fences overlookin' a meadow in a valley!

And as the shadows get long, back up GA 400 and home!

It was a good day, Tator!

I wish my week day rides were more like that instead of always ending up at the parking lot at work.

There's not much like taking off on a ride in the early morning sunshine and getting away from the urban sprawl, traffic, and all those people in cages going in the other direction to jobs they love to hate.

Great pictures.
