Jhuntsman. PM sent to you
im located out here in asia so prices will only be a gauge.
Remember to do some research on the material used and also how long you want it extended by.Im sure other IA members may be able to give some advice. I was flying blind and thats why the drive shaft is so thick excessive factor of safety.
For my 6ft and 210lb size the 4 inch fork risers dont make much difference visualy when im seated on the bike. Took a photo and was playing with MS paint. I hope the extra 4 inches in the swingarm doesnt end up making the bike look goofy.Mechanic has been sitting on the bike for 2 weeks now. Hopefully the swap will be done next week.
I could have saved myself some money and avoided some headaches if id found this earlier.
I think its related to the DG mod from the volusia members page .
Do note that the vs800 driveshaft is slightly longer than the vs 1400 driveshaft. im sure theres a pic comparison somewhere on the board. I will post it if i find it.

Guess i had better make a list of whats needed from the vs 1400 for the swap to take place.
I just discovered that the vs 800 swing arm pivot bolt is at least 30-40 mm shorter than the vs 1400 swing arm at the body pivot width.
OK for the swap to take place one would need
1. the VS swing arm
2. the VS front pivot bolt
3. the rear VS wheel bolt and spacers.
4. the rear vs brake caliper.
i will edit the list as i realise the mistakes during construction :-).
while waiting to buy the pivot bolt i bought a stainless steel bolt ,nut and spring washer .Bolt body was 230 mm long and 16mm in diameter. (M16 -230). Using a 230 bolt allows for a solid bolt body between the swing arm. But the threaded section will have to be trimmed to fit. The bolt head is 10.5mm thick so i machined off 4mm from the top.
edited description of bolt.

Does anyone have the length of the pivot bolt Stem .(from underside of bolt head to end of bolt ) this would be for the VS 1400
for the VS 800 that length is 160mm and bolt stem diameter is 16mm.
Just got a chance to measure the pivot distance on the vs 1400 swingarm its about 152mm.
edited -added diameter

New problem . The 39mm fork extensions didnt fit into the top triple tree because there is some sort of obstruction. I had to re-machine down the diameter to match the fork caps. Then it went in.
Thats the reason aftermarket fork extensions for the vs 800 only goes with the same manufacturers triple tree.
Groove inside the top triple tree
note the diameter difference
There is no noticeable visual difference on the bike with the 4 inch extension. But the side stand needs to be longer as the bike now leans over much much more.
Also the bike becomes heavier to move around when your pushing it.
Onwards to the swing arm swap.
excuse the size of the pics. I reduced them 3 times in photobucket and they still didnt get smaller.

Ok further set backs more of the people kind.
Went to see my mechanic to check on the progress. These guys here are primadonnas .
He was throwing a hissy fit when i approached him saying that "All" the things dont fit . He was busy working on an oil change for another bike so i let him finish .
when i tried to ask what didnt fit all i got was that he didnt want to work on the bike and to take it back. just like that .Sadly thats the attitude of almost all the mechanics here either that or they want to charge you an arm , a leg and a head too. The idiot wont even let me work with him to solve the issue.
So lets see what happens next.
And i still dont know what doesnt fit . The vs 1400 swingarm bolt holes perhaps ?

Thought i would add some pics of the Extension i made for the drive shaft side of the swing arm.
I dont have the facility to make a jig and thats why im going via this route.
If i ever find an engineering shop willing to cut the swing arm left and right "arms" I would do it to get a cleaner look.

The bike has been stripped down. Will post Pics. The engine too . Unfortunately it looks like i need new pistons . piston rings .tensioners and timing chains.
I need to keep the cost down.
Will most prob be looking at used parts.
